Zoom in or out on the map display for a view which suits your needs. Follow along as the screen displays upcoming turns, distance and time to final destination, and a handy compass bearing.

Stay informed

Input your destination with the touchscreen, or select from millions of preloaded points of interest. You can choose among hotels, gas stations, restaurants, and much more all with a couple of taps on the screen. Voice prompts and map directions are available in 17 different languages.

The GPS-510 also includes a TMC traffic-information receiver which gives you up-to-date reports on congestion along your route. With your purchase, you get a free 90-day trial subscription to the traffic-info service, available in most metropolitan areas; subscription fees apply after the free trial ends.

Street names announced

Text-to-speech voice prompts announce actual street names at approaching turns so you can keep your eyes on the road as you drive. Text-to-speech voice prompts are available in English only.

Navigation + entertainment

The Guide + Play features a Secure Digital (SD) memory card slot, so you can play back your favorite music and videos through the navigator using optional SD cards. The GPS-510 supports several file formats, including Windows Media DRM10 downloadable files, and the 4" screen offers you more information for scrolling through music tracks. You can browse by artist, album, genre, song, or playlist, while the screen displays album artwork and ID3 tags.

The Guide + Play comes with a built-in headphone jack for personal listening, and a built-in speaker so you can share your music with your friends. You also get a carrying case to protect the Guide + Play outside of your vehicle.

Features
Text-to-Speech in English announces the next maneuver by name such as the street name or highway. The GPS-310's translation from Text-to-Speech is very easy to understand and natural sounding. The Text-to-Speech function has quickly become the #1 desired feature by portable navigation users as it allows the user to keep their eyes on the road more often.

The unit is so easy to use anyone can operate it right out of the box and the easy to understand manual may not ever be needed.
Full-featured Music player allows you to search by artist, album, genre, song or playlist and displays album art. Shuffle & repeat mode also included. A SD flash card slot is provided for accessing music stored on SD or SDHC cards (card not included). Plays MP3 & WMA audio file formats. 5 of 5 Great product - reasonable price Sunday, October 26, 2008
A Customer from Austin TX

First time it didn't seem to read the street names, but must've been a fluke. I've had it for a few weeks now, and it does what I expected. It reads actual street signs so that I can focus on the road. It also has several views. While in a trip, you can either follow with Forward always being up, or with North always being up. You can also have it view from above, or from angle (which actually helps when steets intersect at an angle). Lastly, you can just have the map on and drive around, zoom out, just to see where you are without a real trip planned. Enjoyable product. Paid $150. Would've like to pay $100..then again, you get what you pay for. Worth it for me.

5 of 5 great product great price Tuesday, October 21, 2008
brian from atlanta, ga
This unit amazed me. I've got a long history of purchasing harman/kardon audio and video components, and I must say my first thought was "how much game do they have in the GPS arena?" For the buy.com price I said what the hell, it's worth a try because it will match the h/k system in my car. I was immediately pleased with the unit using it myself, then was fully impressed by it when my wife used it to come pick me up from a bar she had never been to. I didn't give her instructions on it or anything, she figured it out on her own and said it took her straight to me. I'm now getting one for her car too!

5 of 5 Big Bang For the Buck Friday, October 17, 2008

By far This GPS is the best for the money i bought one a while back after doing some research and the text to speech is cool it really makes it much easier to determine where to turn especially if there are two streets close to each other, Having the Music is cool if you have a stereo with a auxiliary port or a USB port you can plug in the GPS and use it as your MP3 player i use SD cards instead of CD's now one 4 gig SD card holds hundreds of songs, the display is very clear and the background changes color from night to day its nice and bright the reroute is very fast in case you miss a turn or have to take a detour, well needless to say i just bought my second one , one in my wife's car and one for my car , and if i hop in a friends car to go somewhere i can bring it along and the charge is good for 5 hours... and if your not familiar with Harmon Kardon look inside a BMW or Mercedes they make the stereo and GPS systems for these cars .. and the 4 inch display is much nicer then the 3.5 displys with out text to speech in the same price range. i do recommend this product to friends and family.

5 of 5 Easiest To Use, Best Value & Performance Friday, December 14, 2007
A Happy Customer from Arizona
After spending a significant amount of time researching on-line and visiting stores searching for a GPS unit, I purchased the Harman Kardon GPS-310 from Buy.com. I was a bit hesitant as other brands such as Garmin & Tom Tom were recommended to me, but from my research it appeared the Harman Kardon unit had everything I was looking for - easy to use, big screen and text-to-speech. After using now for 2 weeks, I am very pleased with my purchase. It was very easy to learn how to operate and it only takes a few key strokes to get to where you want. It also responds to the touch very fast as well as loading up directions. The 4" widescreen is very clear and bright and I was surprised to find it automatically changes to night mode. Nice. The text-to-speech (announces street & highway names) is amazing as pronounces the names very clear (doesn't sound like a computer voice) and is very helpful when I am in an area I am not familiar with. Lastly, the GPS-310 comes with a MP3 player built in which I didn't think I would find useful, but I now find it a joy to have. I downloaded my MP3 files onto an extra SD card I had laying around and plugged a cable from the headphone out into my "aux in" in my car and listen to whatever I want without having to bring my iPod along. The music can be played at the same time while navigating and you can independently adjust the volume of your music and navigation announcements so you don't miss anything. Having the navigation announcements and music play over my car stereo system at the same time is a great option (can't do that with my iPod). I would recommend this unit to anyone that is looking for a great GPS unit. There are lots of other choices, some cheaper, but I believe it would be hard to find one that equals the performance and value of the GPS-310.
