5 of 5 Review from a Technology Expert Wednesday, January 30, 2008
Don from Simpsonville, SC

I have been in the Computer industry 20+ years and delt with many network environments. I have a basement home and my office is in the basement. I have fought with wireless from upstairs for over a year trying to get the signal in the basement! Even bought a bigger antenna and range expander to no avail! This product works! Plug and play with no problems. I plan to buy 2 more for my bedrooms upstairs above the main level. It can't get more simple. Great for older homes to put a network connection in every room. Will not work through a surge protector. Have fun and e-mail with questions.

5 of 5 Works like a champ! Wednesday, January 23, 2008
Reme from Phoenix AZ
Got this to keep my husband's laptop connected to the internet. Even with the Netgear WPN824 and using Network Magic, connection was always hit or miss for him. Some days, no problem but most days, he kept getting cut off. Got this for him and worked right out of the box. He's happy and I'm no longer frustrated trying to keep him connected. He likes the fact that he can connect anywhere there's an outlet. I highly recommend this kit.

5 of 5 Works just as advertised Monday, January 07, 2008
Chris from Colleyville, TX
I simply plugged these into my existing switches (no setup software). Network came right up with no configuration needed. Not terribly fast, but much more reliable than wireless in the 'fringe' areas of my house.

5 of 5 Works as advertised. . . Monday, December 17, 2007
Brian from Lake Charles, LA
I live in an apartment complex currently. When I look at my available wireless networks, I get about 12 pop up, including 2 of my own. My 802.11G and 802.11b networks kept getting dropped by my laptops and game consoles, not a lot, but enough to have to restart large transfers of files on occasion. I figured I really needed to hardwire it, but I didn't want to run a Cat5 cable across my floor for 30ft. So I figured this was on sale and it was worth it. I must say, it's so good that I've purchased another pair and am considering doing away with WiFi altogether. Setup: Simple, just plug one Homeplug into the A/C socket on the wall near your router and run an ethernet cable between it and the router. Take the other Homeplug and plug it in to any other outlet in the house and run another ethernet cable from it to your chosen device (game console, laptop, ethernet switch, etc.). That's it. Plug-and-play at its best. Security: Haven't experimented with this one yet. Supposedly, the plugs are encrypted to communicate only with each other. The box comes with a CD that allows you to install the software that accesses each Homeplug and change the security code on them. I suppose someone in another apartment would be able to access my network otherwise, if they had a similar Homeplug plugged in (say, upstairs or something), but this eliminates that risk. Again, I haven't tested that theory yet (but plan to). Speed: As far as my router is concerned, it's just a regular Cat5 cable. I can't really see any speed difference, but I rarely max out the bandwidth of my network going to that Homeplug (mostly video game consoles and a TiVo). Stability: Rock solid. It might as well be a direct cable connection. Haven't tested: Range - supposedly around 300ft, probably longer; Security - as described above; Power Strips - Mine are plugged directly into the wall socket, but I'd imagine they work through power strips. Probably not through power conditioner/stabilizers/battery backups and UPS devices, but haven't tested. Overall, I highly recommend this as an easy and reliable way to extend your network without running ethernet cables all over your house and without the instability of WiFi.

5 of 5 Excellent product if you don't mind 10MBPS seed Sunday, December 09, 2007
A Customer from Neptune, NJ
This product is extremely simple to connect and use. Just plug it as instructed by the manufacturer (all cables included), and you are set to go. Connection speed, however, is limited to 10 MBPS, not very fast to share data among pcs. Internet connection is fast enough.

1 of 5 Do not buy it Saturday, November 17, 2007
Arun Gupta from Mechanicsburg, PA
I bought this device couple of years ago but could never get it to work unless the electrical outlets were very close to each other. Even then, the signal stability was shaky and data transfer speed was way less than what I could get on a b-wireless network. After few months this device stopped working altogether. I did e-mail support at that time but they replied that I should call. I called technical support but the voice recording told me that I would have to wait for half hour since all engineers were busy. I threw away the device into junk pile. Wireless works much better. Last time I checked about 4 months ago, the company said they did not have any Vista program for this device. Home Plug networking program allows you to change security settings, password, encryption level etc. on this device. Now they are saying it is Vista compatible. I would look elsewhere instead of buying this device.

5 of 5 Nice product Tuesday, August 08, 2006
A Customer from Riverside, CA
Originally I have DLINK wireless router and adapter, but never got a stable signal and finally gave up. This product works right out of the box and I can even add a 3rd one to expand my home network.

5 of 5 Easy to install and works out of the box Monday, February 06, 2006

I bought this about 3 months ago for 2 laptops in my house that do not have wireless (company policy) - no issues with VPN at all and easy to connect to internet from anywhere in the house at decent speeds.

5 of 5 perfect Monday, December 19, 2005
A Customer from Cleveland, OH
I bought this item because I wanted to network a computer in my basement with my router on the 2nd floor and I don't have a wireless card for my computer or wireless router. I also didn't want the drop off in signal/bandwidth and security issues associated with wireless connections. This product was a perfect alternative. The setup was very simple. You just plug in one adapter into a socket near your router, and the other near your computer. Plug an ethernet cable from the router to the adapter, and adapter to the computer and you're literally set! No other setup was required! I love this networking adapter and highly recommend it to anyone.

5 of 5 Who needs wireless? Tuesday, November 01, 2005
hb861 from columbus, OH
Product is so simple to use and effective that I replaced my wireless router with 4 of these - simply attach your cable/dsl modem to one of them and plug the other(s) in an electrical outlet anywhere in the house and that's it - i never even installed the software that came with it (maybe if you run win 98 or 2k?) - now i can take my ethernet connection with me wherever I want in the house. I still have my wireless router but it's for backup only.
