Canon PIXMA iP4500 Inkjet Photo Printer - 2171B002

I upgraded to this from an old HP 1210 AiO. The two most noteworthy aspects of the Canon are speed and noise, as in "fast and very quiet." I love having 2 paper sources; I put photo paper in the tray and regular stock in the rear feeder (no more document-on-photo-paper accidents). Great print quality. Duplex is a very nice feature, but very slow due to ink dry delay; better to print odds, then evens if you want to duplex lengthy documents. Also, this printer can be modified to print on CD/DVD media pretty easily. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. My purchase price: $90.50 shipped.

The cannon ip 4500 printer is the best printer i have owned and i could never ash for any thing better in a printer.It is better than the HP inkjet printer that onle lasted 6 mounths

....bar none. In all the printers I've owned from the dot-matrix in the late 80's to this Canon (and two Canons before this...), the IP4500 is the best. The speed at which this printer works is amazing. The quality is also great. I have not had the printer long, but the only thing I'm even remotely worried about, is the cost of the ink cartridges, once they need replacing; they may cost as much as the printer itsef. LOL However, the speed and quality of this printer makes it worth keeping. A good investment all the way around.

I love every aspect of this Canon iP4500. The price, the quality, the speed, the paper handling, the noise, the simplicity. I had been using HP for years and grumbling. Now I need to figure out something else to be sour about... :)

The numerical rating above must be qualified by the fact that I have had this Pixma less than a month and have not yet given it intensive use. I can say that it is defintely an advancement over the very good Canon S750 which ceased functioning after many years of service. In a word, the Pixma has yet to prove itself.

Did you know these printers can work their magic on printable CDs and DVDs too? Ever wonder why there's a little panel that pivots down on the front of the printer? Canon has intentionally disabled the printers sold in the USA, but it's very easy to bypass their modification. Go to eBay and/or Google for "pixma CD print" and you'll see how to do it. You'll need to buy a roller assembly and a CD tray; whole shebang is about $20.

I paid about twice as much for this printer as I will pay to replace the ink cartridges. I replaced a higer level printer that I paid much more for only a few years ago. The iP4500 is incredibly fast, prints beautiful pictures, with all kinds of adjustments for a variety of photo papers, is easy to set up and use. Looks nice too. Unless you need a screen on your printer or editing features that you can not perform on your pc, I can't see why anyone would need anything more. $87 including shipping. C'mon!

My HP printer died after 10yrs. I don't need an all-in-one or even a photo...just need a reliable color printer. CNET recommended this Canon and at $90 it is perfect for me. I like the separate paper feeds and setup was a breeze. Printing is fast and sharp. Haven't used the photo or double sided print features yet but I expect them to be flawless like the other functions. You won't be sorry if you get this printer.

This product was a Christmas gift and I have not used a photo printer before. This was very easy to set up and I began using it immediately. The pictures are wonderful and being able to hook the camera directly into the printer makes it so easy to print the pictures you want. They print surprisingly quick.

I purchased the ip4500 printer to replace another Canon printer I owned - the highly rated (but older) i960 which needed a printhead replacement ($70) so the modest difference in price made getting a new printer practical. So far the ip4500 has proved to be a worthy successor to the i960 with a quieter and faster print speed. The photos look like they were printed by a professional photo shop...excellent quality. However the caveat to this printer (versus the i960) is that the ink cartridges have a built-in chip that monitors the ink usage and alerts you to low ink levels and replacement time. This new cartridge design makes it difficult to use third party ink cartridges since the chip is proprietary and can not be duplicated by other manufacturers. There are some work-arounds to this problem if you Google them or you can buy remanufactured ink cartridges or refill your empty cartridges - all of these alternatives are less than desirable (at least for me) and I will likely just stick to purchasing Canon inks.

Nice, really nice. I got this printer to use as a dedicated photo printer. This keeps me from having to change out one cartrage and align the printer head on my Lexmark all-in-one. The Lexmark did a good job of printing but this Canon is a whole other world. My prints on Canon paper look like I ordered them from a pro print shop. It's fast, very fast, even when printing at high resolution.

Great printer! Costs a little more than some others, but is very fast,and color prints are excellent. Ink tanks are easy to refill, so much more economical than many other makes. Highly satisfied with the product and would recommend it to anyone that wants a quality printer - not just the cheapest on the market! Don't quite understand all the negative comments about Buy.com, as order handling and shipping was very good in my case.

I love the Canon Pixma printer, this is my second and we use alot of these at work. They are great printers. Picture quality is excellent. Never a complaint.

I finally did it. I have been researching printers waaay too long. I really wanted the Pro 9000 but just couldn't justify the $400+. I am very satisfied with this purchase. I have framed two photos and they look photo lab quality. Resolution is outstanding, colors are realistic(I used Canon gloss paper). This is a keeper.
