4 of 5 Great PIcs, Confusing Options Tuesday, April 29, 2008 The Slapster from Baltimore, MD
I picked this up as a gift for my Wife, wanting a slim camera that would be easy to take along on short trips and be a step above point & shoot. Finding out a few months after purchase that it can take some very vibrant, quality images - but getting the right balance of options can be a hassle.
Switching Modes takes some patience in navigating the Menus, and even then it can be hard to tell if you have Flash available, whether the SRS is On or Off, White Balance is enabled, etc. Stay away from higher ISO settings, there's a ton of noise if you push it past ISO 400 with indoor shots.
However, once you get the hang of it, the resulting images are spectacular for this price.
One more thing, get a card reader! The transfer cable (that also doubles as Video input for a TV) is horrible to wrestle with hooking up to a computer. Was this review helpful?
1 of 1 customers found this review helpful. 2 of 5 Uncool Pix Friday, March 21, 2008 A Customer from Los Angeles, CA
The thing you need to know about Nikon is that nothing is simple. Not the cameras, the manuals or getting something repaired. The CoolPix seems like a cool camera, but it is complicated and has some issues. The on/button is a known issue...it is delicate and the camera is often on when you think its off. There is an enormous amount of control inherit in the camera, so if you're looking for something point and shot, this is probably not the best choice. And keep the manual nearby, you will be needing it to understand the intricate workings of your camera. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great diggy! Thursday, December 06, 2007 Blugardenia.com from San Francisco, CA
Got the 2-day shipping and received it just in time for a trip. It's easy to use, takes great pictures. I especially love the 3" screen. I took it to Hawaii recently and haven't had a complaint yet! I am completely satisfied with my purchase. Was this review helpful?
